Assisted living facility faces bankruptcy and care issues

Aug. 17, 2012 - South Florida Business Journal - When an assisted living facility in Tamarac landed in bankruptcy court this week, the owners wasted no time asking the court to allow them to function without the traditional patient ombudsman that is required under U.S. bankruptcy laws.
The company, FTMI Real Estate, owns The Lenox on the Lake, a 139-bed facility at 6700 W. Commercial Blvd. It filed for bankruptcy Aug. 10, declaring total debt of almost $29 million and assets of $19.6 million.
