Attorneys rewarded for Sunwest work

Oct. 6, 2012 - A federal judge has taken the unusual step of awarding cash bonuses, ranging from $25,000 to $150,000, to seven attorneys involved in resolving the Sunwest bankruptcy case.
Linda Jackson, a Miami attorney with more than two decades of experience in handling bankruptcy reorganizations, said fee enhancements, like those provided in the Sunwest case, are “very rare.”
“I can tell you that around the country there are many bankruptcy lawyers who have done outstanding jobs under difficult circumstances and have not received enhancements,” Jackson said. The Florida attorney was not involved in the Sunwest case.
