Keeping cryptocurrency keys in a separate physical device called a cold wallet is the best protection for keeping your currency safe after making a transaction, recommends Jose Ceide in this NBC Miami news story on Feb. 3, 2025.

As cryptocurrency is not FDIC insurance and does not have the same protections as does money in the bank, Ceide advised that, “The value is the crypto itself. So, you have to be very careful with where you place it, where you keep it, where you store it.”

“So, I think as of right now, it's on us, on the person who's going to invest to research it, to learn about it, to find out as much as you can about it before you actually start putting dollars behind it,” Ceide said.
