Obama's win to turn up heat on privacy regulation

Nov. 6, 2012 - Law 360 - With his re-election Tuesday, President Barack Obama will likely continue to push for the creation of binding security obligations and aggressive regulation by the Federal Trade Commission to combat pressing privacy concerns raging from the online collection of consumers' personal information to the protection of the nation's critical infrastructure, attorneys say.
"There were a lot of good reasons for Congress to pass legislation this year, and we saw it get a lot of attention and representatives break party lines to support it," Salazar Jackson LLP partner Luis Salazar said. "But there was still oppostion and nothing got done.
