Private Sector To Push For Leeway In Cybersecurity Standards

Feb. 13, 2013 - Law360 -With the White House unveiling a long-awaited executive order on cybersecurity Wednesday, attorneys expect banks, power grid operators and other businesses to soon launch aggressive lobbying campaigns to try to ensure the new standards remain voluntary, include attractive incentives and protect sensitive business information.
While specifics will be left up to the stakeholders, the standards are likely to include many security measures, such as conducting regular risk analyses and maintaining strong passwords, that most critical infrastructure companies have already contemplated, Salazar Jackson LLP partner Luis Salazar noted.
