With Email Ban, King & Spalding Misses Bigger Picture

April 17, 2013 - Law360 - In deciding to bar employees from accessing their personal email on work devices, King & Spalding LLP took an extreme step to combat the extreme threat hackers pose to law firms, but experts say it overlooked broader external risks that require additional controls.
“This is a bold and decisive approach that will certainly improve security,” Salazar Jackson LLP partner Luis Salazar told Law360 on Wednesday. “Employee access to personal emails via an employer's system just opens the door to malware and worms that can lead to serious security problems.”
